Quote of the Day

"Everyone wants to be a leader.Few want to be a servant. God isn't looking for servant leaders. He's looking for servants." - Rick Warren, Lead Pastor Saddleback Church, CA

If people would only realize that Jesus came not to be the leader, but to be the servant.

"And whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." - Jesus (Matthew 20, 27-28, ESV)

Album Review - Fireflight: "For Those Who Wait"

Hey readers,

In 2008, a sophomore release from a little-known Christian band climbed all the way to my Number One for that year. It was the album "Unbreakable" by Flicker Records' band Fireflight.

Now, Fireflight returns with their much anticipated follow-up to their 2008 success with 2010's "For Those Who Wait", and I gotta tell you, it was worth the wait.

The album starts off with the title track and I must admit, I was a little confused by the quiet string intro. I had expected more from this band, but after ten seconds, Dawn Michelle's voice cuts through the string quartet, and the band drops in with a gritty symphonic rock song akin to something I would have expected from Evanescence.

Follow that up with three more rock anthems in a row: "Desperate", "Fire in my Eyes", and "Core of my Addiction" all scream about our need to have Jesus in our lives because we are absolutely nothing without him.

The album takes a little of a turn to the ballad genre next with "What I've Overcome" and then follows up with what may be the strongest song lyrically on the album, "Name".

After that, it's back to the rocked up noise that has earned Fireflight recognition the world over. "New Perspective" is traditional Fireflight goodness and "You Give Me That Feeling" is a rock anthem that just screams for a crowd to accompany it on the chorus.

The album wraps up with two inspiring songs that leave you with a complete feeling. "All I Need to Be" is about throwing off our facades and embracing the truth that Jesus is the only strength that we need, while "Recovery Begins" is a ballad that showcases some wonderful piano riffs that are sprinkled throughout the album and tells about how we need to be quiet and listen for God's voice.

All in all, this is a dynamite album. It is a solid pick-up for fans of Evanescence, Flyleaf, or Paramore. Check it out people, you won't be disappointed with this one.
